Fall & Flowers

Although Fall is my favorite time of year in Seattle, I'm not quite ready for it to officially change seasons yet since we are finally having amazing summer weather! But I know it will be here before we know it, so while I'm putting off my pumpkin spice latte's and wearing my leather boots until October.... I did have to indulge in some beautiful fall colored flowers while we were at Pike Place market this weekend. I love that you can get such great bundles of flowers that make the kitchen feel special all week long for just $5.

And who knew there were such a thing as yellow and purple carrots? 

Holiday Flowers

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone....Time to start the Holiday Decorating! Found these beauties at Home Depot for $3 each.... continuing my obsession of having flowers in our house for the year.

Flowers everywhere

We went with my parents to the Marysville Rotary Auction this last weekend. My dad is really involved with Rotary and its a great cause raising money for scholarships for kids. We've gone the last couple years and always have a good time. Hopefully as we get older we will be able to donate more to great foundations like Rotary and give back to the community. Anyways... we didn't walk away with too many auction items this year, but did make it home with these beautiful flowers!

I thought these would be way to huge for our house... and they are very large... but are kinda fun for a week taking over our dining room table. 

Beautiful little centerpiece I picked up! Fits right in with our little pumpkin on the kitchen table. 



Seasonal decor makes me happy

Like flowers, I have a soft spot for pumpkins. In fact I have to restrain myself or I would buy one everytime I see them at the store. When they first show up at our neighborhood vegetable stand (Tony's) it makes me just giddy. And when I found some of the really cool "Harvest Pumpkins" (the only way I can describe them is they look like heirloom tomatoes kind of) at Trader Joe's I went about crazy. I'm limiting myself this year to 2 large pumpkins on the porch this year, and a small one with a green gord as centerpieces on our table.

Reds, Oranges, and Yellows

I sure love fall. Can't get enough of the flowers, these are a few more I got at the west seattle market again last weekend. $4 for 4 stems which seems like such a steal, and they are huge and beautiful.

Also had to grab a picture of some of our tomatoes that came in this year... we got about 4x this amount in the picture and have been making lots of caprese salads with them. You really can't beat fresh veggies right from the yard.

Fall is here...

Now that Labor Day has come and gone...it's time for Pumpkin Spice Latte's, yummy foods made in our slow cooker, and of course pretty flowers in beautiful rich fall colors. Picked up these beauties at the West Seattle farmers market last sunday for $5.  What a deal! We need to head over to the outdoor market more often on sundays, I always forget how fun it is and all the good local foods and flowers they have.

More Flowers

Love my flowers. These are from the backyard. I have to hack this rose bush back each year, it just grows like crazy and would take over the yard if I let it. And I hate this chore....I always end up on the losing end covered in scratches. Oh well, at least this year I've found another purpose for them!

Flowers of the week

I'm trying to continue to bring fresh flowers into the house every week if I can. It's such a fun and inexpensive way to bring a splash of color into the living room or kitchen and I love it. Since it's summer I thought I should try and keep bringing in flowers from our yard since we have them. This week it's Daisies from the backyard...
